Basketball Recap: Ja?Naisha Carney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westover over E.E. Smith

Westover lost against E.E. Smith back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Westover Wolverines fell just short of the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls by a score of 47-45.

Westover lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ja?Naisha Carney, who posted ten points and four steals. Carney has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tytiana Dowden, who had 13 points and three steals.

Mia Cordero was a one-woman wrecking crew for E.E. Smith as she went 9 of 15 on her way to 20 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Cordero a new career-high in rebounds. Alonnie Baldwin - Muldrow was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Westover's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-8. As for E.E. Smith, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Westover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-48 defeat against Pine Forest on the 17th. As for E.E. Smith, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-27 win against Triton on the 17th.
