Recap: Ocean View Seahawks vs. Royal Highlanders
After a string of four wins, the Ocean View Seahawks's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their2023 ended with a 62-45 defeat against Royal. While losing is never fun, Ocean View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 675th, while Royal is ranked 157th).
When it comes to explaining why Ocean View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Ackerman. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Ackerman's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cavin Flanagan, who scored nine points.
Ocean View's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Royal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocean View will take on Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Katella is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Royal, they will be playing at home against Oak Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
