            Mill Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Friday. They took down the Lambert Longhorns 30-16. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Longhorns, too.
Mill Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Jacob Blevins led the charge by rushing for 130 yards and one  score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.  Devin Hamilton did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 86  receiving yards.

 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mill Creek was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 266  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
 Another reason for the win was Mill Creek's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 14 sacks.  William Backus led the group effort, picking up three of those  sacks all by himself. Mill Creek received some extra help from  Caleb Zalewski, whose fumble return for a touchdown  made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mill Creek will host Norcross  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Lambert, they will welcome Walton  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday.
