Soccer Game Preview: Arcata vs. College Prep

The Arcata Tigers will challenge the College Prep Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Arcata's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Arcata is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Cristo Rey De La Salle 2-1. The result kept Arcata happy, as they haven't lost a game since August 29th.

Lars Gerdes and Cruz Aguilar scored both of Arcata's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 25 goals.

Meanwhile, College Prep faced Athenian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Neither the Cougars nor the Owls could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Arcata is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 90 goals over those 13 matches. College Prep's draw gives them a new season record of 8-2-3.
