Recap: Westminster Lions vs. Laguna Beach Breakers
It was a good run, but The Westminster Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Laguna Beach 42-7. Westminster was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Benny Burns ii threw for 116 yards and a touchdown. Jason Guzman was his top target, picking up 78 receiving yards. On the ground, Jesus Ortega rushed for 48 yards.
It was another big night for Nick Rogers, who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 78 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Kollock, who threw for 390 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt.
Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Laguna Beach, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1.
Westminster will square off against Schurr at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Schurr's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Laguna Beach, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. El Dorado is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
