Softball Game Preview: Lakewood Leopards vs. Lejeune Devilpups

The Lakewood Leopards will take on the Lejeune Devilpups at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakewood has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clinton hit Lakewood with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Leopards came up short against the Dark Horses, falling 14-3. The Leopards haven't had much luck with the Dark Horses recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lejeune couldn't beat Pender on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Devilpups lost 20-5 to the Patriots.

Lejeune saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian English, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Breslyn Weeks was another, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lejeune, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Lakewood couldn't quite get it done against Lejeune when the teams last played last Friday as they fell 6-3. Can the Leopards avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
