Basketball Game Preview: West Iredell Warriors vs. North Iredell Raiders

West Iredell hasn't had much luck against North Iredell recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The West Iredell Warriors will face off against the North Iredell Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West Iredell is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They took a blow against North Lincoln, falling 96-61. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Knights are ranked 136th).

West Iredell might have lost, but man, Jordan Patterson was a machine: he went 11 of 20 on his way to 29 points. That was a full 47.5% of West Iredell's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Cornelius, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points.

Meanwhile, North Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 78-35 loss at the hands of East Lincoln. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

West Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for North Iredell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

West Iredell came up short against North Iredell when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 81-69. Can West Iredell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
