Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. Mantachie Mustangs

The Myrtle Hawks will face off against the Mantachie Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Myrtle will be strutting in after a victory while Mantachie will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, everything went Myrtle's way against Walnut as Myrtle made off with a 9-2 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brooklyn Streich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Streich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cora Beth Kelly and Mary Ella Mayer did most of the damage at the plate: Kelly scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Mayer went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mckensie Wise, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Mantachie came up short against Ripley on Tuesday, falling 10-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
