Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Logan was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man). The Trojans beat Palco 33-12 earlier in the week.

Weskan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Triplains/Brewster, 52-16. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Weskan's dynamic duo of Samuel McKinney and Hayden Walker proved tough for the Titans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McKinney threw for 181 yards and five touchdowns and Walker had 144 yards receiving. Jared McKinney helped Weskan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.

Stefan Gilgorijevic made the biggest impact on defense this week as Triplains/Brewster fell to Marc Cowles's team. The 5-foot-11 senior recorded one fumble.

Brett Pinkerton was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 162 yards on 18 carries as Logan bested Tony Stramel's team. Teammate Dillon Schmidt added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.

Weskan's McKinney and Walker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. McKinney has thrown for 750 yards this season, while Walker has 19 catches for 484 yards. Andrew Luna from Golden Plains leads the league in rushing with 918 yards.

Luna of the the Bulldogs is only 82 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cheylin takes on the Coyotes. At the moment, the Cougars are in fourth, while Weskan is in first.

The Coyotes took down Triplains/Brewster 52-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. McKinney ran for 54 yards in the win.
