Curwensville hasn't had much luck against Clearfield recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The team also got some help courtesy of Tuck Tkacik, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Curwensville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Clearfield suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2024 on Monday. They lost 81-57 to Tyrone. The Bison have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Curwensville will need to focus on slowing down Braison Patrick, one of several Clearfield players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 24 points. Patrick's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Ev Maines was another key player, putting up 17 points.
Curwensville's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Clearfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Curwensville has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
