Recap: River Valley Falcons vs. Antelope Titans
This season hasn't been kind to The River Valley Falcons, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were beaten by Antelope 42-12 on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for River Valley in their matchups with Antelope: they've now lost five in a row.
River Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Mcpeak, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 173 yards and a touchdown.
Antelope can attribute much of their success to David Whitten, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Whitten was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Robert Tupou got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
River Valley's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.8 points per game. As for Antelope, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will square off against Yuba City at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Antelope, they will head out on the road to face off against Inderkum at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Inderkum is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
