Softball Recap: London Wins Going Away Against Northeastern

London had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Northeastern on Friday. The Red Raiders were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Jets. The victory continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Jets: they've now won three in a row.

Sophie Alt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, London got a massive performance out of Samantha Webb, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Webb a new career-high. Gwyn Wieber was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.

London kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

London's record is now 3-0. As for Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

London wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-3 loss against Benjamin Logan on the 1st. Northeastern has also already played their next matchup (against Triad), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
