Basketball Recap: Aquinas Institute Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Aquinas Institute lost to Franklin back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Aquinas Institute Little Irish strolled past the Franklin Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 79-64. Given the Little Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Aquinas Institute and bumps their season record up to 8-4. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

When Aquinas Institute and Franklin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Aquinas Institute will try to stop University Prep Charter's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Franklin will challenge World of Inquiry and their four-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
