Baseball Recap: Glen Burnie Drops Season-High Score on Overlea

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glen Burnie). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Overlea Falcons a 19-0 shutout on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Noah Dull made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Glen Burnie got a big performance out of Logan Collins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Collins has become a key player for the Gophers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyler Ward, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Glen Burnie's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Overlea, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coming up, Glen Burnie will face off against Winters Mill at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Overlea, they will be taking part in a tournament against North County at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
