Albany and Saint Mary squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Albany had to settle for second. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Albany was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Saint Mary's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-18.

Naima Cox paced Albany's offense, picking up seven kills. Cox got some help from Maia Lieu and her 16 assists.

Albany's defeat dropped their record down to 18-18. As for Saint Mary's, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Albany does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Saint Mary's, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Mission San Jose on the 1st.
