Baseball Game Preview: Chelsea Hornets vs. Helena Huskies

The Chelsea Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Helena Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chelsea's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Helena's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hornets on Wednesday. Chelsea skirted past Baker 7-5. The victory was some much needed relief for Chelsea as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Branson Hogan looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cade Mims, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Chase Lackey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Helena faced Tuscaloosa County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Helena fell just short of Tuscaloosa County by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since February 28th.

Chelsea's record is now 13-9. As for Helena, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
