Softball Recap: Ponaganset Falls Short Against Ranked East Providence

Ponaganset faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Chieftains fell just short of the Townies by a score of 3-2. The Chieftains' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Ponaganset saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Duncan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Ponaganset's record is now 2-6. As for East Providence, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponaganset will square off against Smithfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sentinels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Chieftains' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Providence, they will challenge Cumberland at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
