Baseball Recap: Vanlue Takes a Loss

Mansfield Christian hit Vanlue with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 11-5 to the Flames. The loss leaves the Wildcats still looking for their first win of the season.

Toby Reed made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with eight stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was James Meikle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Vanlue's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mansfield Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Coming up, Vanlue will square off against McComb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mansfield Christian, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-6 win against Crestline on the 18th.
