Baseball Recap: Holdrege Gets the Win

Holdrege's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Centennial Broncos 2-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dusters as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kegan Steinke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Holdrege is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Holdrege's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lyndon Rodewald, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most hits Rodewald has posted since back in March. Conner Tilson was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-10. As for Centennial, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Holdrege will challenge York at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dusters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dukes have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Centennial, they will take on Louisville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
