Baseball Game Preview: St. Augustine Knights vs. San Antonio Christian Lions

St. Augustine is 0-7 against San Antonio Christian since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The St. Augustine Knights will face off against the San Antonio Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m.

St. Augustine is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Saint Mary's Hall.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Antonio Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on St. Joseph Academy with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Caleb Young made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Nolan Amerman was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Spenser Hansen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

San Antonio Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for San Antonio Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-8 record.

St. Augustine suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to San Antonio Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can St. Augustine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
