Softball Recap: Everett Alvarez Makes It Three in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Monterey, Everett Alvarez was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Watsonville Wildcatz a 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcatz: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Dani Amendola's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bella Hanson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaris Perez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Everett Alvarez's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Watsonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.
