Baseball Game Preview: Revere Minutemen vs. Highland Hornets

For the second straight game, Revere will face off against Highland. The Minutemen will welcome the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Revere 2.6, Highland 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Revere is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Highland, who was ranked 11th at the time (Revere was ranked 18th). The Minutemen lost 8-1 to the Hornets on Monday. The Minutemen's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

For Highland's part, Cooper Richnafsky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Richnafsky has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Landon Sooy was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Casey Myser, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win keeps Highland at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for Revere, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
