Basketball Recap: Peyton Jennings' Big Game Can't Quite Lead White Knoll over Laurens

White Knoll fought the good fight in their overtime match against Laurens on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laurens Raiders. While the Timberwolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 18-9 in the first quarter.

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peyton Jennings, who went 10 of 18 en route to 24 points. Denzel Posey was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

Laurens found their leader in sophomore Q Quinton Watts, who went 13 of 20 en route to 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watts has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyj Narrius Jones, who posted 16 points and four steals.

White Knoll has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Laurens, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

White Knoll wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-44 win against Lexington on the 20th. Laurens has also already played their next matchup, a 44-39 victory against Chesnee on the 20th.
