Baseball Game Preview: Summit Hilltoppers vs. Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders

Summit is 0-6 against Scotch Plains-Fanwood since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers will welcome the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Friday, Summit sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Union Catholic. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Gavin Schnall, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Gianni D'Agostino was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Scotch Plains-Fanwood came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past Westfield 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 4th.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Losardo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Summit, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
