Basketball Recap: Saint Mary's Comes Up Short

Saint Mary lost against Salesian College Preparatory back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Saint Mary's Panthers had to suffer through a 71-38 loss at the hands of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Pride are ranked 27th).

Saint Mary's loss dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season.

Saint Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-43 defeat against Heritage on the 19th. Salesian College Preparatory will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Ramon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on February 26th. Salesian College Preparatory knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 matches -- so hopefully San Ramon Valley likes a good challenge.
