Baseball Recap: Liberty Beats High Point Academy for Their Third Straight Win

Liberty had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the High Point Academy Grizzlies as they made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Blade Epps made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Carson Garrick was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Liberty is 5-2 when Garrick posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Collins, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Point Academy struck out 12 times.

Liberty now has a winning record of 9-8. As for High Point Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-1 record this season.

Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Council Rock North at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for High Point Academy, they will head out to take on Greenville Tech Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.31 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
