It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Chapman Panthers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Boiling Springs and snuck past 43-41. Winning is a bit easier when you nail five more threes than your opponent, as Chapman did.
Chapman was led to victory by Elliot Miller and Krislyn Wilder. Miller scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Wilder scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Wilder has scored at least 25% of Chapman's points. Annastyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Loss or not, Boiling Springs got some senior leadership from Sarah Ezell who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds and Natalie Trudell who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Ezell scored a full 46.3% of Boiling Springs' points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chapman has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Boiling Springs, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Chapman and West Henderson will face off at 10:00 a.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Henderson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game.
