Volleyball Recap: Citrus Valley Blackhawks vs. Redlands Terriers

After flying high against Yucaipa last Tuesday, Citrus Valley came back down to earth. The Citrus Valley Blackhawks lost 3-0 to the Redlands Terriers on Thursday. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Terriers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Saturday.

While Citrus Valley ultimately came up short, they really made Redlands work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-9, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Citrus Valley saw an underclassman step up: Sophia Swogger had 15 digs and two aces. Swogger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Ava Reyes was a one-man wrecking crew for Redlands as she had 17 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Reyes has posted in her last 11 matches.

Citrus Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Redlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.

Citrus Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaumont at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redlands, they will venture away from home to square off against Cajon at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Redlands is facing Cajon at the right time seeing as Cajon is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
