Basketball Recap: Calvary Day School Starts off Right with Win over Carolina Day

Calvary Day School had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging an 89-57 win over the Carolina Day Wildcats. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Owen Calvert was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 21 points. His afternoon made it 20 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Sarnowska, who scored 16 points.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zeke Garris, who earned 21 points. Garris is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Aiden McAfee was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Carolina Day's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Day School will venture away from home to take on Fayetteville Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carolina Day, they will head out to square off against Mount Pisgah Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
