Baseball Recap: Tell City Gets the Win

Tell City posted their closest win since May 14, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Northeast Dubois Jeeps 3-2. The Marksmen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jeeps, too.

Talon Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Max Fortwendel was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Schraner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Tell City and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Northeast Dubois, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Tell City will take on Cannelton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northeast Dubois, they will face off against Orleans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jeeps are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
