Baseball Recap: Southside Christian Wins Going Away Against New Life Christian Academy

Southside Christian barely beat New Life Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Southside Christian blew past New Life Christian Academy 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering Southside Christian has won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Simmons was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Southside Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Simmons was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jonah Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Zeke Ragan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Southside Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Southside Christian back to even at 3-3. As for New Life Christian Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Southside Christian will square off against South Wake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Life Christian Academy will be paying especially close attention to Southside Christian's contest: after Southside Christian faces off against Wilson Christian Academy, they'll take on New Life Christian Academy again at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
