Mekeel Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 65-41 to the Mayfield Panthers. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Brianna Iannuzzi went supernova for Mayfield, putting up 30 points along with five boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Iannuzzi has scored at least a third of Mayfield's points. Abigail Powers was another key player, posting 13 points and four steals.

Mekeel Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mayfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mekeel Christian Academy will square off against Berlin/New Lebanon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mayfield, they will take on Oppenheim-Ephratah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
