Football Recap: Antonio Fields Key Part of Team Effort in Pioneers Win + How To Watch

Oak Ridge won the last time they faced University and things went their way on Friday too. The Pioneers snuck past the Cougars with a 27-21 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Oak Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antonio Fields out in front who threw for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 17 passes. The dominant performance also gave Fields a new career-high in passer rating (112.9). 90 of Fields' passing yards were hauled in by Da'ron Newton Caster, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Oak Ridge didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited University to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Pioneers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 58.8%.

Oak Ridge's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up nine sacks. Lazard Gabriel led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. He has become a key player for Oak Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one sack, but 1-2 otherwise.

The victory got Oak Ridge back to even at 3-3. As for University, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Oak Ridge and University will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Pioneers see the field they'll take on Windermere at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for University, their break will end when they face Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
