Baseball Game Preview: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Carroll Tigers

The Robstown Cottonpickers will square off against the Carroll Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robstown will be strutting in after a victory while Carroll will be coming in after a loss.

Robstown had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Hebbronville on Friday. Robstown put the hurt on Hebbronville with a sharp 8-2 win. The Cottonpickers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

Meanwhile, Carroll suffered their closest defeat since February 27th on Friday. They fell just short of Corpus Christi Moody by a score of 4-2.

Robstown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Carroll dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Robstown took their victory against Carroll when the teams last played back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Robstown repeat their success, or does Carroll have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
