Football Recap: Carmel Starts off Right with Win over Grayslake Central + How To Watch

Carmel gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Grayslake Central Rams 52-13. With the Corsairs ahead 28-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Trae Taylor had an outrageously good game as he threw for 207 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards. Carmel also got a significant boost from Jorden Moore, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carmel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaquel Edmonds, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carmel will venture away from home to take on Lake Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grayslake Central, they will head out to face off against Bremen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
