Baseball Game Preview: West Jessamine Colts vs. Tates Creek Commodores

The West Jessamine Colts are taking a road trip to challenge the Tates Creek Commodores at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Jessamine is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, West Jessamine came up short against Scott County and fell 5-1.

West Jessamine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mavrick Napier, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tates Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Greenup County on Friday.

Tates Creek also got a great performance from Carter Gilliam as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Gilliam a new career-high.

Tates Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for West Jessamine, their loss dropped their record down to 9-24.

West Jessamine couldn't quite get it done against Tates Creek in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 10-5. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
