Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Neches). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Oakwood Panthers 73-12. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Panthers are ranked 1254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Neches pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Oakwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Neches and Oakwood will both be playing Trinidad the next time they take the court. Neches will head out to face Trinidad at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Oakwood will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
