Basketball Recap: Central Crossing Comets vs. Newark Wildcats
The Central Crossing Comets lost against the Newark Wildcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Central Crossing fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 51-48. Central Crossing has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Central Crossing lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cheyenne Taylor. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. Taylor is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Savannah Hamilton, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Central Crossing has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Newark, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Crossing will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Reynoldsburg's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Comets have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Newark, they will challenge the Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Logan is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
