Basketball Recap: Clairemont Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Clairemont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 77-68 victory over the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs. The win almost wasn't to be: the Chieftains were down 55-40 in the third quarter.

Blake Murphy went supernova, dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten rebounds. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Robbins, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards.

Clairemont has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 63.5 points this season. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clairemont will welcome Escondido Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for San Dieguito Academy, they will challenge Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
