Oaks Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Westlake proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Lions 7-6. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.

Stone Brownell and Micah Cummins dominated on the mound. Brownell tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits, while Cummins pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Cummins has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Stead, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Charles, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Oaks Christian, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-7.

Westlake will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
