Basketball Game Preview: Sundown Roughnecks vs. Smyer Bobcats

Sundown is on a three-game streak of home losses, Smyer an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Sundown Roughnecks will welcome the Smyer Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Sundown came up short against Sudan and fell 46-37. The contest marked the Roughnecks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Sundown had strong showings from Kye Powell, who posted 11 points, and Briar Miller, who had seven points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan McAdams, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Smyer lost to All Saints Episcopal School on the road by a 52-33 margin on Thursday.

Smyer's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Sundown, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

Sundown beat Smyer 51-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Sundown repeat their success, or does Smyer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
