Elk Lake extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 7-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Montrose Meteors. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Warriors have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Elk Lake saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alden Felker, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Montrose, they moved to 4-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.

On Montrose's side, Christopher McGee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. McGee also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Meteors are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise.

Coming up, Elk Lake will be playing at home against Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Montrose, they will head out to face off against Carbondale Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.29 runs per game on average), something the Meteors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
