Basketball Recap: Central Lee Comes Up Short

After flying high against New London last Tuesday, Central Lee came back down to earth. The Central Lee Hawks were beaten by the West Burlington Falcons 79-39 on Friday. The Hawks lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 76-59 score last time.

The defeat snapped Central Lee's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for West Burlington, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Central Lee and Mediapolis will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for West Burlington, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Van Buren County at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. West Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Van Buren County likes a good challenge.
