Basketball Recap: Minatare Comes Up Short at Home Against South Platte

Minatare unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 66-44 to the South Platte Blue Knights on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 14 in a row.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron LeVasseur, who posted 21 points and three steals. Eliseo Hernandez was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

South Platte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tatum Worley, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Worley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon McBride, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 14 points and three steals.

South Platte has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Minatare is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Banner County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for South Platte, they will face off against Sedgwick County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
