Basketball Game Preview: Valley View Spartans vs. Edgewood Cougars

The Valley View Spartans will take on the Edgewood Cougars at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-15, which was the final score in Valley View's tilt against Ross on Thursday. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Edgewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-19 loss at the hands of Bellbrook. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 76th).

Lilly Luensman-Hardin was Edgewood's leading scorer, having posted five points. Megan Brown held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Edgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Valley View ended up a good deal behind Edgewood in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 55-41. Thankfully for Valley View, Rylie Homan (who went 8 of 14 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards) won't be suiting up this time.
