Baseball Game Preview: Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

Cosumnes Oaks hasn't had much luck against Elk Grove recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolfpack will look to defend their home field against the Thundering Herd at 4:00 p.m.

Cosumnes Oaks fell victim to Laguna Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Cardinals.

Elk Grove let Franklin stack four runs on them in the third inning on Friday but luckily Elk Grove prevailed anyway. The Thundering Herd won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thundering Herd have posted against the Wildcats since April 17, 2024.

Ethan Bagwill looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hudson Hall was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Chase Groves was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Elk Grove has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-20.
