Baseball Game Preview: West Carter Comets vs. Morgan County Cougars

For the second straight game, West Carter will face off against Morgan County. The Comets will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Carter has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with nine straight losses, while Morgan County will come in with six straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for West Carter's offense. They lost 10-0 to Morgan County on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Comets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Morgan County's part, Cooper Fleming made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Fleming a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Grayson Hampton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Parker Trusty, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Morgan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Morgan County's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for West Carter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
