Softball Game Preview: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Forreston Cardinals

The Hiawatha Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Forreston Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hiawatha and 15 for Forreston.

Hiawatha lost 17-2 to Somonauk last Tuesday.

Nelly Delvalle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Kahlan Chambers also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Durand hit Forreston with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-1. Cardinals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Tuesday.

Forreston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Sanders, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Forreston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Hiawatha, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
