Football Recap: Taj Barnes and Algernod Crawford Secure Win for Glades Central

Glades Central played against Clewiston on Friday and won via forfeit.

A big part of Glades Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Taj Barnes and his top target Algernod Crawford. Barnes threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes while Crawford picked up 98 receiving yards and two TDs. Crawford really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 82 yards.

Glades Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Wade Antoine and Jaylin Bouie. Bouie has been hot, having also posted at least one defended passe the last five times he's played. Antoine got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Glades Central pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Clewiston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Glades Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Armaud Stinfort and Macrae Thompson. As for Clewiston, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-25 loss against Golden Gate on the 3rd.
