Volleyball Recap: Big Walnut Comes Up Short

Big Walnut was the 3-0 winner over Dublin Scioto when they last played one another on April 8th, but their luck changed this time around. The Golden Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Irish on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Big Walnut started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

Nathaniel Weaver paced Big Walnut's offense, picking up ten kills. Weaver got some help from Bryce Lawhun and his 25 assists. Lawhun was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

Dublin Scioto was led to victory by David Lee and Jay Pendyala. Lee had ten digs and three assists, while Pendyala had seven digs and two aces. What's more, Pendyala racked up six assists, the most he's had over his last six matches.

Big Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Dublin Scioto, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-8 record.
